Raquel Klein is a choreographer, stage creator, and space designer. A graduate in Choreography and Performance from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and in Interior Design from ESDAP, her practice questions the choreographic power of spaces through bodies that become choreography through the gesture of being, remaining, and occupying a place, establishing long-duration contemplative choreographic landscapes. Her first piece, Wu Wei (Mercat de les Flors, Teatre Principal de Palma, 2020), received three nominations at the Butaca Awards, and the solo 1'28 won the Madrid Choreographic Competition (2017) and the Art Jove Award (2018). Through her research project Reflex, developed as an emerging artist at El Graner (2020-21) and activated at the Museum of Mataró (MAC) and CaixaForum Barcelona, she explores the possibilities of the body-landscape and expanded temporalities.
Her international profile includes a three-year exchange between the Mercat de les Flors and the West Kowloon Cultural District in Hong Kong, and the creation of No Landscape for Moveius Contemporary Ballet, presented at the Spanish Cultural Center in Washington DC (2025) in collaboration with the Embassy of Spain. She is currently developing the solo Negro Luz, a hybrid language between the scenic and the installative body, and together with Raquel Gualtero, under the name La Rebelión de las Aburridas, she created the panoramic piece Castells a l'aire at the Castell de Montjuïc (Festival Grec de Barcelona, 2022-23). Since 2018 she has collaborated consistently with sound artists Albert Tarrats and Adrià Juan, integrating sound as a fundamental axis of dialogue with space in her projects; in her latest stage, with Negro Luz, she works alongside Albert Tarrats on the sound and lighting dimension of the piece.
