Fira B!, the professional market for music and performing arts of the Balearic Islands, has opened two artistic calls aimed at selecting two proposals from Emilia-Romagna and two from Puglia to be included in the programme of the 2026 edition. This initiative is carried out in collaboration with Emilia-Romagna Music Export (the regional music export initiative promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Music Commission and ATER Fondazione) and Puglia Sounds, the Puglia Culture project for the development of the regional music sector in collaboration with Regione Puglia, within the framework of the international focus that this year the fair dedicates to these two Italian regions.
This territorial focus is part of the Balearic Islands’ presidency of the Euroregion and reinforces Fira B!’s commitment to cultural cooperation between territories. In this context, the 2026 edition will place a special emphasis on European regions as spaces for creation, exchange and artistic projection.
The Institut d’Estudis Baleàrics (IEB), the organising body of Fira B! under the Government of the Balearic Islands, is devoted to the international promotion of Balearic culture. This international vocation is strengthened through its participation in European networks such as EMEE (European Music Exporters Exchange) and is reflected in Fira B! itself, which acts as a key platform for connection with other territories.
A consolidated fair
Fira B! was created with the aim of becoming a meeting point for creators, professionals and programmers in the fields of music and performing arts. Over the years, it has established itself as a strategic platform for the dissemination of contemporary proposals and for the internationalisation of the Balearic cultural sector.
Last year, the fair celebrated its tenth edition, confirming its steady growth and consolidation within the professional circuit. Fira B! is a member of the Federation of Music Conferences (FoMC) and, since 2022, has hosted the annual assembly of Plataforma Jazz España, the national association of jazz festivals, further strengthening its role as a key meeting point for the sector.
Artists and international projection
Throughout its editions, Fira B! has hosted a wide range of artists, consolidating its role as a hub connecting different scenes. International artists who have performed at the fair include Daniela Pes, Cous Couscous a Colazione, Anna Bassy, Pasquale Calò and Ars Nova Napoli (Italy), Superkoloritas (Lithuania) and Petros Klampanis (Greece), as well as names such as Antoine Boyer (France) and Meskerem Mees (Belgium).
In terms of national and emerging international acts, the fair has also featured artists with strong circulation within the European scene such as Los Sara Fontán, alongside performers like Sofi Páez (Switzerland/Chile), Suonno d’Ajere (Italy), Daniel Levi (Estonia) and projects such as Roseye, Kosmonauci and Ganna, all active in international showcase and professional festival circuits.
As for the Balearic Islands, the fair has become a launching platform for artists with growing international visibility in recent editions. Notable names include Maika Makovski and L.A., both with established careers and presence on international stages, as well as Maria Hein and Júlia Colom, who have begun their internationalisation processes. A central figure is also Marco Mezquida (Menorca), one of the most internationally recognised Balearic musicians, who has participated in Fira B! in various formats, both with Chicuelo and with his own trio.
This combination of local artists with international projection and international acts reinforces Fira B!’s role as a strategic platform for artistic circulation and cultural exchange.
2026 programme
The 2026 edition will feature around 50 concerts, held in several emblematic venues across Palma, including Es Gremi, Motorworld, Teatre Xesc Forteza and Teatre Maruja Alfaro. The programme, combining local, national and international artists, will include the selected proposals from these calls, further strengthening the European dimension of the fair.
Professional programme
The professional programme remains a cornerstone of Fira B!, fostering exchange between artists and key players in the music industry at both national and international levels. In recent editions, the fair has significantly expanded its network of invited professionals, consolidating its role as a strategic meeting point for festivals, markets and industry platforms. Fira B! regularly brings together hundreds of professionals, including programmers and festival representatives from across Europe and beyond, with strong participation from leading international events such as ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag), Waves Vienna, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Future Echoes, Spike, Mastering the Music Business, InJazz and Jazzfestival Saalfelden, among others.
At the national level, the fair maintains close connections with key festivals and platforms such as Primavera Sound, Mallorca Live Festival, Mercat de Música Viva de Vic, Trovam and Canarias Jazz y Más, reinforcing the integration of Balearic artists into major circuits. In parallel, Fira B! has also hosted representatives from major international festivals and organisations such as Sziget, Montreux Jazz Festival and Jazzahead!, as well as industry initiatives like Sounds from Spain.
Through panels, workshops, presentations and speed meetings, the professional programme offers artists direct access to programmers and decision-makers, facilitating bookings and fostering long-term collaborations. This strong professional dimension positions Fira B! as a key gateway for the internationalisation of Balearic talent and for the circulation of artists within European and global networks.
With these new calls and the focus on Emilia-Romagna and Puglia, Fira B! reaffirms its commitment to internationalisation, cultural cooperation and support for contemporary creation.
