The Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics is an organization created by the Government of the Balearic Islands for the promotion of the language and culture of the Balearic Islands.
The Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics, through our Culture department, has as strategic objectives the consolidation of the Balearic islands as a structured cultural market, the promotion of the islands' music, perfoming arts, literature and visual arts by means of grants, international actions under the BCULTURE brand, through TALENTIB (artistic networks among the artists and venues on the islands of the archipelago) and formative seminars in cultural affairs.
Our audiovisual department, also known as the Illes Balears Film Commission, intends to consolidate the audiovisual sector of the Balearics as a strategic cultural industry and encourage its production and its projection overseas, as well as promoting the Balearic territory as an attractive location for film production.
The language department offers to the citizens of the Balearic islands various possibilities to learn the Catalan language: face-to-face, as well as online courses, workshops for youngsters, Catalan centres, etc.
The publications department (Estudis Baleàrics) is in charge of the the Local Studies Conference, organised by the Institut d'Estudis Baleàrics, since 1982, and the Estudis Baleàrics journal.
